IET Integrated Energy Therapy
Reiki is a form of energy healing that originated in Japan in the early 20th century, and was developed by Mikao Usui. It is known as a spiritual healing practice that works with "universal life force" energy to restore balance, harmony, and inner peace. Through gentle touch or hands held just above the body, Reiki helps clear energetic blockages, support emotional release, and encourage deep relaxation and healing on the mind, body, and spirit levels. Many people experience Reiki as a calming, grounding practice that reconnects them to their natural flow of energy and sense of well-being.
During an in-person session, the practitioner channels healing energy through their hands while standing/sitting beside and gently placing hands on or above the client’s body. The client remains fully clothed, lying on a massage table or seated (if preferred). Many people experience warmth, emotional release, deep peace, or a meditative state as energy flows where it is most needed.
A distance Reiki session is a form of energetic healing that can be received from anywhere, allowing the practitioner to channel Reiki energy across time and space through focused intention and spiritual connection. During the session, clients are encouraged to relax in a quiet, comfortable space and remain open to receiving the energy as it supports balance, clarity, relaxation, and overall well-being.
After either a distance or in person session, the practitioner and client reconnect to discuss the experience, share any intuitive insights or sensations that arose during the healing, and offer guidance or reflections to support the client’s continued healing journey.
No, Reiki is considered a complementary wellness practice and is not a substitute for medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment from a licensed healthcare professional. Reiki may support relaxation, stress relief, and overall well-being, but it should be used alongside — not in place of — appropriate medical or mental health care.
